These lists are extremely comprehensive and helpful enlisting organizations of repute as Nevada Assisted Living and Las Vegas Elder Care.

The sites allow easy browsing of several options and even help you get along with the whole process of communication.

Some sites contain listings of over 6000 non-profit nursing home care facilities, retirement homes, elder care agencies and assisted living residences. What is a Concussion?

Concussions are the most common form of brain trauma injury, and occur when the brain hits the skull. The word “concussion” has been used to describe this injury for centuries, and has become kind of a catch-all term for any traumatic brain injury. The more medically correct term is “mild traumatic brain injury” (MTBI), although this is used almost exclusively in the medical community. Usually, concussions involve either temporary or permanent brain damage, which makes them especially dangerous.

In many ways, a concussion is like a bruising of the brain, and as such there are some serious medical issues that can go along with the damage. They can be especially dangerous if they are repeated over time, as this can lead to brain damage or dementia pugilistica (punch-drunk syndrome). In a concussion, blunt trauma causes the brain to hit the skull, causing a secondary injury. The brain swells in this particular location, and bruises, which can cause serious damage if not examined by a doctor. Concussions frequently happen in sports, although falls and any other hit to the head can cause them.

The symptoms for concussion may vary, and usually become evident shortly after injury. The most obvious signs are:

Headache, which may be hard to distinguish from the pain that goes along with blunt force trauma to the head.
Dizziness, difficulty balancing, and loss of motor control.
Light sensitivity, blurred vision, and double vision.
A ringing sensation in the ears.
Disorientation and confusion.
People suffering from concussions often ask the same question repeatedly, or show other forgetful tendencies.

Fortunately, there are very few fatalities from concussions, although it is important to have a doctor examine you if it is a serious concussion, or if you still feel uneasy after a few weeks. The standard treatment for concussions is plenty of rest and plenty of monitoring of the injury. To be on the safe side, you should see a doctor.

However, if concussions are frequent over the long-term, they can result in a wealth of physical and emotional problems, such as seriously reduced memory functions, difficulty in performing motor functions, and reduced muscle speed. This is common in former athletes, especially football players and boxers, who frequently receive blows to the head.
